Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO), Hugh Riley, says regional countries will continue the fight to get the United Kingdom, to reduce its controversial Air Passenger Duty (APD) on British travellers to the Caribbean.

In his Christmas message, Riley said that the global economic situation has seriously affected the tourism industry.

Caribbean countries have been critical of London’s decision on the APD and CTO Chairman Richard Skerritt has urged regional countries, to send a strong message to the UK on the issue when they attend the United Kingdom-Caribbean Forum in Grenada early next year.

Skerritt said the announcement by Britain is a slap in the face for all Caribbean people.
