St Lucia\'s opposition Labour Party has requested a meeting with the government of Trinidad and Tobago over proposals for political union.
Trinidad and Tobago\'s Prime Minister Patrick Manning has been holding talks over closer union with governments in St. Lucia, Grenada, and St. Vincent.
St. Lucia\'s opposition party said it needs to be a part of these discussions.
The Labour Party said in a statement that fuller discussion would be needed to get over public cynicism over talks of closer union.
