The European Union will be providing aid to Caribbean countries hit by hurricane Gustav.
The EU said about $2.9 million worth of aid will be provided.
It said the money would pay for clean water, food, medical care, shelter and basic household items.
The countries badly affected by Gustav include Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic.
A statement from the EU said about 8,000 Haitians is living in temporary housing, after high winds and floods destroyed homes and farms.
Several houses and other infrastructure in the eastern end of Jamaica particularly in St. Thomas, Portland and St. Andrew were severely affected by Gustav.
