Jamaicans Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell will clash in their first head-to-head meeting since the Beijing Olympics, when they line up in the 100 metres at the Golden League meet in Brussels, Belgium today.

Organisers said there would be a sell-out crowd to witness the two fastest men on the planet, as they clashed in the season-ending event.

Following his huge disappointment in Beijing, when he finished fifth to Bolt in the 100 metres, Powell clocked a fast 9.72 seconds on Tuesday at the Athletissima Super Grand Prix meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland to send a serious warning to his rivals.

World champion American Tyson Gay was invited but pulled out after a training session yesterday, stating that he did not want to risk further injury.

The race also includes Jamaicans Michael Frater and Nesta Carter, Kittian Kim Collins, Trinidadian Marc Burns and Churandy Martina of the Netherland Antilles.

The women’s 200 metres will feature two Jamaicans in Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson. They will chase victory against Americans Carmelita Jeter and Tori Edwards.

Jamaican Delloreen Ennis London will seek to end the season on a winning note by upsetting American Lolo Jones in the 110-metre hurdles.

In the men’s 400-metre hurdles, the Jamaican trio of Danny McFarlane, Isa Phillips and Markino Buckley will battle Olympic silver medallist, American Kerron Clement for top honours.
