West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul is among three players nominated for both the Cricketer of the Year and Test Player of the Year Awards for 2008.

Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene and South African speedster Dale Steyn are the other players shortlisted.

Chanderpaul topped the test and one-day averages since last August, while Steyn captured 86 wickets in 14 Tests at home, in India and England.

South Africa skipper Graeme Smith, who led his team to their first Test series win in England for 43 years, is also in the reckoning for the Cricketer of the Year prize.

Four players including Jamaica and West Indies captain Chris Gayle will vie for the new award of 20/20 International Performance of the Year.

The players were short listed following their performance in last year’s inaugural 20/20 World Cup in South Africa.

The other players are wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh of India and Australia paceman Brett Lee.

Gayle scored 117 from 57 balls against South Africa in the 20/20 World Cup, Dhoni captained India to victory, Singh hit six sixes in one over Against England and Lee claimed a hat-trick against Bangladesh.

The awards will be presented at a function hosted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Dubai on Wednesday.
