NNP expresses concerns
The New National Party (NNP), in Grenada is expressing concern about a statement by the new Commissioner of Police James Clarkson.
The NNP said the statement attacks the reputation of several police officers.
In a recent press conference, the Commissioner reportedly said all files in the Special Branch Unit of the Royal Grenada Police Force were destroyed soon after the July 8th general elections.
The NNP said the statement implies that the files were deliberately destroyed in order to hide certain information in a bid to protect the former Government.
The party said the statement is untrue as the information is duplicated on a computer system, which the United States Government gave to the police force nearly three years ago.
It said the files are also on a back-up system.
The party is warning the Commissioner to avoid making any unnecessary public comments, which can further demoralise members of the Police Force.
