Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Denzil Douglas, has said negotiations with Brazil on the Partial Scope Agreement represent an important accomplishment for the twin-island federation.

A partial scope agreement, the most basic of free trade agreements, allows for preferential trade by reducing or eliminating tariffs on goods in bilateral trade.

Dr. Douglas said the accord, which will be signed soon, would result in a strong manufacturing sector and increased employment for St. Kitts and Nevis nationals.

Over the weekend, the government announced that Brazil’s Resident Ambassador Miguel Magalhaes informed that an official from Brasilia would arrive shortly in Basseterre to sign off on the long-awaited accord between the two countries.
