Grenada\'s Finance Minister, Nazim Burke, said the two-month-old government is slashing spending as it grapples with a cash crisis.

The government has blamed what it calls reckless pre-election expenditure by its predecessor for making the country\'s finances even tighter.

Mr. Burke said the entire welfare budget had been spent in the first half of the fiscal year, which ends in December.
