Haiti’s newly-appointed Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe says his focus is on addressing widespread poverty and seeking investment in the Caribbean Community’s poorest nation.

The 39-year-old was sworn in yesterday.

Lamothe, who is said to be a close friend of President Michel Martelly, said he plans to submit his new reforms to Parliament soon.

He said he wants to be the prime minister that takes care of the people’s needs.

Meanwhile, Lamothe has announced that a massive street clean-up, road improvements and increased security campaign would begin immediately in the earthquake ravaged country.
