Cornwall hammer Green Pond
Cornwall College hammered newcomers Green Pond High 5-0 in their Zone ‘A’ Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association/Pepsi/Digicel rural area daCosta Cup game yesterday.
The game was played at Cornwall College.
Kenrick McLeod led the scoring for Cornwall College with a double strike, while Jhaun Bryan and substitutes Ravnon Foster and Jahmal Whittaker got a goal each.
In another Zone ‘A’ game Maldon edged Irwin High 1-0.
In Zone F, Manchester High registered the most impressive margin of victory for the day, scoring a whopping 7-0 win against Cross Keys.
In the other Zone ‘F’ games, Decarteret College defeated Porus 3-1, while Belair and Bellefield played to a 3-3 draw.
Old Harbour and Glenmuir played to a 1-1 draw and Tacus Golding beat Central High 2-0.
In Zone ‘J’, Bog Walk beat Charlemont 2-1 and Dinthill edged Glengoffe 1-0.
The competition continues this afternoon with another 15 games.
Among the teams slated to be in action are former champions Munro College, which will make their season debut against Black River in a Zone E Game. That game will be played at Munro College.
In Zone B, former champions Rusea’s and Merlene Ottey will face off. All matches are scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m.
