Venezuelans injured in Guyana boat explosion die

(AP): Two Venezuelans who were injured when their boat recently exploded near Guyana's northwest border have died.

Officials at Georgetown Hospital said late Friday that two other men injured during the explosion remain in serious but stable condition.

The explosion occurred last Sunday when authorities say the men were attempting to smuggle fuel into the remote Morawhanna Region.

Fuel smuggling is common in Guyana's northwest region because it lacks private oil facilities.
