The Cuban population is reportedly expressing gratefulness for the near daily arrival of donations in the wake of the devastation wrought by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

The Cuban people have incurred losses estimated at US$5 billion.

The Caribbean territory has for years been accustomed to giving rather than receiving aid after natural disasters.

During the course of this week Cuba has seen several flights from Colombia and Honduras carrying humanitarian aid for distribution.
