JFF squad named
Referee Walter Enrique Quesada Cordero of Costa Rica will be the man in the middle for Jamaica’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Mexico at the National Stadium on October 11.
Compatriots Leonel Leal Bermudez and Osvaldo Luna Gutierrez will assist him.
Jamaica are currently last in their four-team World Cup qualifying group on one point from three games, with three games remaining.
To have a chance of advancing to the final stage of the CONCACAF qualifying round, they must beat Mexico, Honduras and Canada and hope other results go their way.
For the Mexico game on October 11 and the Honduras game four days later, striker Marlon King earned a recall to the 22-member squad.
King is among 10 players that were not invited for Jamaica’s crucial away World Cup qualifiers in Mexico and Honduras, named in the squad selected by interim coach Theodore Whitmore.
Among the other players recalled are Damion ‘Stew Peas’ Stewart, his brother Demar, Claude Davis, Jermaine Johnson, Omar Daley, Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Dane Richards, Omar Cummings and Oneil Thompson.
Midfielder Andy Williams, who scored Jamaica’s only goal in this quadrangular play-off, has not been selected.
