UNICEF helping Haiti

The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has called for urgent action to bring life-saving help to thousands of children in Haiti suffering from the devastation caused by the passage of four successive hurricanes since August.

UNICEF says over 400 schools were damaged, and many more were being used as shelter.

With children expected to return to school on October 6, UNICEF said the aid would contribute towards creating favourable conditions for the displaced population to return to their homes and vacate the schools.
