Portmore defeat Arnett Gardens

Champions Portmore United defeated hosts Arnett Gardens 1-0 at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex yesterday to maintain its perfect start in the 2008 to 2009 Digicel Premier League football competition.



With the victory, Portmore United now moved to maximum six points to remain the early leader in the competition.



Harbour View, Sporting Central, Boys’ Town and Waterhouse are locked on four points each.



Harbour View picked up a point yesterday, following a 0-0 tie with St. Georges at Lynch Park in Portland, while Sporting Central and Meadhaven battled to a 2-2 affair at Drewsland.



Over at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay, visitors Boys’ Town and Village battled to a 1-1 draw and Waterhouse, through a 34th minute strike from Jermaine Anderson, carved out a 1-0 victory over Rivoli United at Prison Oval in Spanish Town.



In the other game of the second round, Reno and Tivoli played to a goalless draw at St. Elizabeth Technical High School.



The third round of matches is scheduled for Sunday.
