Jamaica’s Kerrie Baylis last night emerged from a field of eight other Caribbean contestants to be crowned the 2012 Miss Jamzone International.
The competition, held annually in Guyana, is part of the country's premier festival, Jamzone Summer Break.
Baylis, 23, is an insurance underwriter.
“From the first moment she walked on stage, Kerrie Baylis had the audience on her side,” said a report on Jamzone’s Facebook page.
Baylis also received applause for her cultural presentation described as a highlight of last night's show.
First runner-up was Louise Victor of St Lucia, and second runner-up, Trevicia Adams of St Kitts and Nevis.
Baylis is the 2009 Miss Jamaica World.
