More help for Haiti

The head of the United Nations World Food Programme, Josette Sheeran, is appealing to donor nations to supply more funds for Haiti.

The money is reportedly needed to feed Haitians and repair infrastructure in the aftermath of recent storms.

Ms. Sheeran said the agency urgently requires $54 million for food, logistics and emergency communications to help 800,000 people across the country.

To date, the international community has contributed more than $10 million, allowing the programme to feed those in need until the end of next month.

Ms Sheeran said it would require a massive effort to help Haitians stave off hunger and save lives.
