Oppositon renews call for senior Cabinet ministers resignations
The main opposition People’s National Movement in Trinidad has renewed its call for the resignations of two senior Cabinet ministers as the fallout from the controversy over the proclamation of the controversial Administration of Justice Act continues.
Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley says Attorney General Anand Ramlogan and Justice Minister Herbert Volney should tender their resignations for their respective roles in the matter.
He says the opposition maintains that a clause of the legislation was aimed at helping two financiers of the ruling United National Congress evade trial on fraud related charges.
The clause was repealed by the House of Assembly on Wednesday and on Thursday night, five independent senators voted against the measure even though the government was able to get the support in the Upper House.
