Tennis Jamaica to hire expert coach
Tennis Jamaica has secured a grant from the Olympic Solidarity Programme to bring an expert tennis coach, John Goede of Suriname, to Jamaica for one month.
Goede, who will be assisted by national technical director Douglas Burke, will stage two workshops for coaches.
The first workshop will take place in Montego Bay at the Tryall Club from October 13 to 25.
The second workshop is scheduled for Kingston at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre from October 27 to November 8.
The aim of the one-month course will be the training and certification of well-qualified, high-level local coaches able to teach the game to intermediate and advanced players
Tennis Jamaica is hoping to certify 12 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Level Two coaches after the courses.
There are only three ITF Level Two coaches in the country.
The programme is free of cost.
