Grenadian police officers suspended
Five police officers were suspended yesterday in a move that Police Commissioner James Clarkson said was aimed at rooting out undesirables from the Royal Grenada Police Force.
The suspensions are related to offences committed by the officers during the month of September.
One of the officers has been charged with indecent assault arising out of an incident involving a 17 year old girl on September 2.
He has been released on bail and is due to make his first court appearance on October 28.
The charges against the others were laid following an investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department into an incident on Hog Island on September 4.
It is alleged that the officers brutally beat a group of young men, who had been picnicking on the island located five miles from the mainland.
They were also released on bail and are scheduled to appear before a St. George’s Magistrate on October 28.
