ICC changes one day internationals
The International Cricket Council (ICC) the sport’s World governing body, have passed a new rule, which allows the bating side to nominate one of the PowerPlays.
Currently, the fielding side chooses the band of five overs, which will constitute the final two of the three PowerPlays in a One Day International.
The first PowerPlay is a statutory 10 overs at the start of each innings in a One Day International.
Now, the batting team will be permitted to choose when either the second or third PowerPlays takes place.
It was also decided that three fielders be permitted outside the field restriction circle during both the second and third PowerPlays.
Previously, the third fielder was allowed outside the field restriction circle during either the second or third PowerPlay.
