The New York-based human rights organisation, Breakthrough, has launched a campaign to improve the conditions at immigration detention centres in the United States.

Trinidadian Anslem Ifill, who is a member of the organisation, said he faced deportation after a criminal conviction even though he had served eight years in the US army.

He is insisting that he should not have been ordered deported after risking his life for the US.

Breakthrough is also claiming that human rights violations in US immigration centres are similar to those occurring at America\'s Guantanamo prison in Cuba.
