Obama author held in Kenya

Authorities in Kenya have detained the American author of a highly critical book about US presidential candidate Barack Obama.



Officials said Jerome Corsi, who wrote the book The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality is being held in the capital, Nairobi, because of a problem with his papers.



He has also been accused of a smear campaign against Obama.



Obama, who has ties to Kenya is said to be highly popular in that country.



Corsi had reportedly traveled to Kenya to unveil his best-selling book there.



Kenyan immigration officials said he was detained after it was discovered that he did not have the necessary work permit.



They have refuted claims that his arrest was politically motivated.
