Former Jamaican sprint queen Merlene Ottey will be honoured at the inaugural Caribbean Awards for sports icons set for November 7 at the Jamaica Pegasus.

Ottey, who switched allegiance to Slovenia, the country she now represents, has been selected for a special award. Ottey represented Jamaica for more than 20 years, winning nine Olympic medals.

The event seeks to honour outstanding Caribbean sports personalities, who have made their mark in the various fields of sports.
