Canoe competition kicks off

A total of 40 boats including last year’s winner, Millington, are now taking part in the 24th Port Antonio Canoe Tournament, which got underway in Portland this morning.
The one-day canoe tournament now takes centre stage as a one-day event, following a rest day for anglers who are participating in the 45th Blue Marlin Tournament.
The canoe competition is being sponsored by Magnum Tonic Wine, and the winner is to receive the sponsor’s trophy, cash incentive, and other prizes.
Last year, the crew aboard Millington accounted for the heaviest catch throughout the entire tournament, a 500 pound blue marlin.
The Blue Marlin tournament will resume tomorrow.
