More than US$70,000 in prize money will be up for grabs at the 45th staging of the Jamaica Golf Open Championships, which was launched yesterday at the Half Moon Hotel in Montego Bay.

The championship returns after a break in 2007 because of financial difficulties.

The four-day tournament will be held at the Half Moon Golf Course beginning next Wednesday with 70 professionals and 40 amateurs.

The Jamaica Open, which will be played on the last three days following the Pro-Am, will be a 54-hole strokeplay championship.

The Pro-Am will be played over 18-holes.
