Kemoy Campbell fails to medal at Games

National junior 1500-metre record holder, Kemoy Campbell today failed to give the country its first medal at the third Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune, India.



Campbell, clocked three minutes 54.50 seconds to finished a disappointed 10th in the final of the 1500 metres.



He had qualified for the final with a faster time when he placed fifth in three minutes 54.08 seconds yesterday.



Jonathan Ndiku of Kenya won the gold medal in a game record three minutes 45.96 seconds.



Jamaica’s medal hope in badminton disappeared today.



Gareth Henry was beaten two sets to one by fourth seeded Paul Van Rietvelde of Scotland in the men’s singles quarterfinal.



Rietvelde won the game 21-13, 9-21, 21-16.



Then later the pair of Henry and Chadwick Parson crashed out to Gary Fox and Richard Morris of England in the men’s doubles quarterfinal.



The Jamaican pair lost in two sets 21-10, 21-16.
