Belizean police were up to late yesterday searching for the gunmen, who fired several shots at the home of former Belizean prime minister Said Musa on Tuesday night.

Police Press Officer Raphael Martinez said that Musa and family were safe and unhurt following the shooting incident at the house in Belize City.

Martinez reported that five nine-millimeter expended shells were recovered from the scene, and that the front door and the glass on the rear passenger door of a vehicle in the yard were damaged.

Musa served as prime minister of Belize from 1998 to 2008.
