American, US Airways boards approve merger

Media and newswire sources say American Airlines and US Airways are planning to form one of the world's biggest airlines.
A number of unnamed sources say the two boards met yesterday to approve the merger.
A formal announcement is expected today.
The merger will bring American Airlines closer in value to rival Delta Airlines, with an estimated market value of US$11 billion.
