WIPA/TTCB financial agreement
A financial dispute between the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) and the West Indies Players Association (WIPA), which had threatened the lucrative Stanford Super Series, has been settled.
As a result of the financial agreement, the TTCB will be sending a full strength team to the Stanford Super Series beginning on Saturday in Antigua.
The participation of a full-strength T&T line-up was put in doubt on Monday evening after negotiations between WIPA and the TTCB broke down over the distribution of the participation fee of US$100,000 between the board and the players.
It was reported that WIPA insisted that the players get 75 percent or US$75,000 of the participation fee, but the board was willing to offer 50 percent or US$50,000.
An additional 20 percent was offered to the players if T&T beat the Stanford Superstars and England, which would have put the total at 70 percent.
After a meeting late yesterday, an amicable agreement was reached with allows the best T&T players to go to the tournament.
WIPA now agreed to 60 percent for the players, with no incentive if they win the two matches.
The meeting also involved discussion over the US$180,000 purse for the T&T versus Middlesex match. However, both parties had already agreed that the players would get 75 percent and the TTCB the other 25 percent.
