Jamaican rider Winston Thompson collected two wins yesterday and moved away from his nearest rival Davis Amiss in the Suffolk Downs jockeys’ championship races in East Boston, Massachusetts.

Thompson won the first two races on the day’s card to carry his tally of wins for the season to 87, seven clear of title-chasing Amiss, who went winless.

Thompson is bidding for his fifth Suffolk Downs jockeys’ title.

The current Suffolk Downs season has just over two weeks remaining. It ends on November 8.
