Leaders of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and Trinidad and Tobago said they are willing to have public discussions on their planned economic and political union.
In July, Grenada, St Vincent and Trinidad and Tobago announced plans to merge their economies by 2011, and to form a political union two years later.
Since then all OECS leaders have endorsed the proposal.
St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister, Denzil Douglas, said the countries have agreed to consult with the public, to draw up an appropriate plan for the proposed union.
Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, Sir Dwight Venner, said the union is necessary in light of the current global financial crisis.
