The Jamaica Rugby Union has pulled the men’s team from the Caribbean Championship and the International Rugby Board’s World Cup Sevens Qualifiers as a result of financial difficulties.

The tournaments will be held this weekend in Nassau, Bahamas.

Rugby Development Officer Jason Campbell says efforts to get help from the Ministry Of Sports were not successful.

Jamaica will only be represented by the women’s team, which is now in the Bahamas having departed earlier this week.

The women will be attempting to defend their Caribbean title and qualifies for the Sevens Rugby Tournament, which will take place in Dubai in March.

Jamaica are drawn in Pool C, which also includes Guyana and Bermuda.
