REG Bermuda man sentenced to life

A High Court judge in Bermuda has imposed a life sentence on a man who was found guilty of murdering the sister of a former cabinet minister.



Justice Charles Etta Simmons ordered 54-year-old Norris Simpson, to serve at least 23 years before being eligible for parole.



Simpson was found guilty of the murder of 66-year-old Ida James, his landlady.

The court heard that she was stabbed at least 60 times at her home on September 2, 2011 and the accused arrested later that month.



James, a retired social worker, was the sister of former United Bermuda Party cabinet minister Dr Clarence James.
