England beat Trinidad and Tobago by one run when Ravi Rampaul was run out going for a second run off the last ball of their Stanford 20/20 Super Series match last night in Antigua.

England made 141 for six and Trinidad replied with 140 for nine in the final warm up for England’s clash with the Stanford Superstars, a West Indies all-star side, for US$20 million on Saturday.

Trinidad, which beat English 20/20 champion Middlesex on Monday for US$280,000, threatened England’s total with only 17 runs to get off the final two overs.

With two runs needed off the last delivery from Steve Harmison to tie the match, Rampaul edged to third man but was run out after attempting the second run.

Denesh Ramdin top scored for T&T with 37 runs off the bowling of Andrew Flintoff three for 30 and Paul Collingwood two for 11.

England’s top run getter was Kevin Pietersen with 44, while opener Ian Bell chipped in with 37.

Sherwin Ganga was the most successful bowler for T&T with four for 23 off four overs.
