Jamaica international Ricardo Fuller scored in the 74th minute to lead Stoke City to a 1-0 victory over Sunderland in their mid-week English Premier League match last night.
Fuller’s second-half header in front of over 26,000 vocal fans at their home Britannia Stadium gave them their third win of the season and eased the team slightly toward mid table.
Elsewhere, Steven Gerard’s 75th minute penalty carried premiership leaders Liverpool past Portsmouth 1-0 and Chelsea stayed in touch when they ran past Hull 3-0 in a key clash.
Liverpool have 26 points, three in front of Chelsea on 23.
