The Office of the US Trade Representative, has placed Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago on a watch list of countries that have failed to make the adequate copyright payments for US musical compositions aired in the broadcast media.

The trade representative also decided to retain Jamaica although steps have been made to enforce regulations related to copyright payments.

In its annual report released yesterday, trade representative called on foreign Governments to ensure that adequate copyright payments are made when US musical compositions are performed on media including TV and radio broadcasts.

As it relates to Barbados, the trade representative says it is concerned about local TV and radio broadcasters’ refusal to pay for public music performances.
