Gonsalves believes Obama win good for the Caribbean

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves says a US presidential win by Democrat Barack Obama will open doors to a closer union of the northern Caribbean.

With just hours left before the presidential ballot, Gonsalves is already pointing to a Democratic victory.

He further foresees an easing of US restrictions against Cuba, which is currently constrained by a decades-old trade and economic embargo.

Dr. Gonsalves believes an Obama presidency may begin to roll back some of the restraints of the embargo and may eventually try to liberalise that process.
