T&T PM orders probe of emails
Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar has said that she would ask the police to investigate allegations members of her government, including herself, have been involved in attempts to undermine the judiciary, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the media.
The allegations are contained in emails read out in Parliament by Opposition Leader, Dr Keith Rowley, as he presented a motion of no confidence against her administration.
Speaking at a news conference yesterday, Prime Minister Persad Bissessar also denied being the author of any of the emails purporting to come from her, Attorney General Anand Ramlogan, her Local Government Minister and her security advisor.
She described the emails, as being fabricated and wondered why he had not taken them to the police for further investigation.
She says she had already written Acting Commissioner of Police, Stephen Williams to conduct a probe into the emails since she regards their contents as being very serious.
