UK to impose visa requirements for Trinidadians

The British Government could be imposing visa requirements for Trinidadians to visit the United Kingdom.

Gillian Merron, the Minister for Caribbean affairs in the UK, said London would make a decision in this respect early next year.

The consideration follows concerns about the involvement of Trinidadians in criminal activities.

The UK has been complaining about Trinidadians tendering fake passports and being involved in drug trafficking and illegal migration.

Trinidad and Tobago and 10 other countries have until year end to solve the problems or face a visa requirement.

The UK Caribbean affairs minister is advising Trinidad and Tobago to better monitor individuals, who leave the twin island-nation for the United Kingdom.
