Rebels in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have forced thousands of civilians out of a town, which they have over-taken from a pro-government militia.

The town of Kiwanja has reportedly been over- taken by rebels after two days of fierce fighting.

More than 35,000 people were ordered out of the town for it to be searched by the rebels.

Rwanda is blaming the Congolese army and United Nations peacekeepers for not solving the crisis.

Rwandan President Paul Kagame is also accusing the international community of failing to act.

Mr Kagame is scheduled to meet his Congolese counterpart Joseph Kabila at a summit in Kenya tomorrow to discuss the crisis.

UN chief Ban Ki-Moon is also scheduled to attend the meeting.
