The Government of Guyana said it would be sending soldiers to the hinterlands to search for a US-registered plane that has been missing since Saturday.

Three people are said to have been aboard the aircraft.

Head of aviation Zulfikar Mohamed said teams would search an area near the Venezuelan border signs of the plane.

At the time the aircraft went missing, it was reportedly conducting aerial surveys for a Canadian mining company.

Mr. Mohamed said while the authorities have reduced the number of planes and helicopters searching the area, they have not given up hope.
