The Media Association of Trinidad and Tobago, is raising concern over an unplanned visit by the Prime Minister, Patrick Manning to one of the country’s radio stations.

It is reported that Mr. Manning paid a visit to 94.1 FM radio after he heard two broadcasters commenting on the recent increase in gas prices in the twin island republic.

According to Mr. Manning, the conduct of the broadcasters was unprofessional.

The media association say its worried that the Prime Minister’s visit was an attempt to stifle freedom of the press.

However, the Prime Minister is insisting that he did nothing wrong.

He said he was just merely exercising a right that is available to all citizens.

The Trinidad and Tobago Publishers and Broadcasters Association said Manning\'s action could be interpreted as an abuse of power.

The management of the radio station has since suspended the two broadcasters.

However, it says the decision was not influenced by the visit of the Prime Minister.
