The US President-elect Barack Obama this afternoon met with current president George W. Bush at the White House.

The content of their discussion has not being disclosed but it’s believed the two discussed the war in Iraq and the financial crisis.

It’s further believed they also discussed how to effect a smooth transition until Obama takes office on January 20, 2009.

The president-elect has already indicated he could reverse controversial Bush administration policies.

Reports from the US suggest that his team is set to tackle the issue of the Guantanamo Bay Detention Centre, in Cuba.

Mr. Obama\'s transition chief, John Podesta, has also said that executive orders from the Bush administration on issues such as stem cell research and oil drilling are at odds with the president-elect\'s views.

Obama and his wife, Michelle, visited the building that will be their new home next year.
