St Lucia public consultation

Public consultations on the proposed economic union of Eastern Caribbean nations is expected to start in St. Lucia today.



The public dialogue is meant to provide the people of the sub-region with an opportunity to comment on the draft union treaty.



The document can be accessed at www.oecs.org .



An amended treaty will eventually go before national parliaments for ratification, as members of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States pursue an economic union by the end of 2009.



Trinidad and Tobago is expected to join the union by 2011.
