UWI St. Augustine campus dismisses Environmentalist Dr. Wayne Kublalsingh

Environmentalist, Dr. Wayne Kublalsingh has confirmed his dismissal as a lecturer at the St. Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI).



Kumblalsingh has been staging a daily protest outside the office of Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar over the construction of a multi-billion dollar highway in the south of Trinidad,



The part-time lecturer for 16 years said he respected the university’s position in relation to the non-renewal of his contract this year.



He said during a meeting last week with the Department of Liberal Arts he was informed that in the interest of the students, his situation had become volatile.
