United States President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team has signalled that a Caribbean American will be chosen as the next US Attorney General.
Fifty-seven-year old Eric Holder, if appointed by the Obama team and confirmed by the US Senate, would become the first Black to serve as America’s top law enforcement official.
Holder, whose parents are Barbadian, was a senior official in the Justice Department in the Bill Clinton administration.
As a top adviser to Obama, Holder has long been considered the front-runner for the job of attorney general because of his extensive record as a prosecutor and a judge and a well-honed reputation inside Washington.
