Glen Mills denies Bolt training in Ireland

Glen Mills, coach of triple Olympic gold medal winner Usain Bolt, has denied a report that his athlete is planning to do some training in Ireland.

A story published this morning on the Caribbean Media Corporation’s website said Ireland’s Sports Minister Martin Cullen was trying to organize a visa for Bolt to travel to Ireland to train at the University of Limerick.

The report also quoted Cullen as saying that Bolt’s decision was triggered by the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team that praised the training facilities at the university.

Mills says he is unaware of any discussion between Bolt and Cullen.

Bolt is now travelling to Monaco for the International Association of Athletics Federation’s World Athletics Gala on Sunday.

Bolt is expected to walk away with at least two major awards at the Gala.

He has been nominated in the categories for Male World Athlete-of-the-Year and Male Performance-of-the-Year.

This year Bolt became the first man to win three major sprinting events at a single Olympics since Carl Lewis 12 years ago.

He also became the first man in history to set World records in three races at a single Olympics.
