Venezuelan elections loom

The governing and opposition parties in Venezuela are reportedly wrapping up their election campaigns ahead of Sunday\'s regional polls.

The vote will be the first test of public opinion since President Hugo Chavez narrowly lost a constitutional referendum last December.

Mr. Chavez is reportedly trying to boost support for his United Socialist Party of Venezuela, which has brought together several left-wing parties who are standing for the first time under a single banner.

More than 20 regional governors, 300 hundred mayors and over 200 provincial governments are up for election.
