Visa problems delay WI team
Visa problems have delayed the West Indies team from travelling to New Zealand for their two Test series against the hosts starting next month.
Left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn, fast bowler Fidel Edwards and wicketkeeper/batsman Denesh Ramdin are at a London hotel waiting for the West Indies Cricket Board to obtain visas for them.
The rest of the players remain in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where they have been training since the conclusion of the three-match One-Day International series against Pakistan.
The regional side will play the opening Test starting December 11, at University Oval in Dunedin before heading to McLean Park in Napier for the second Test beginning December 21.
West Indies have not won a Test series against a highly ranked side since they beat Sri Lanka at home in 2003 and have not beaten New Zealand in a Test series in 12 years.
The tour also includes five One-day Internationals, and two 20/20 International.
The regional team is scheduled to have one official warm-up match against Auckland early next month.
